WHAT ARE THE PROS & CONS OF IT?

Long Answer, I apologize in advance

Pros of being a college professor-
-better pay (usually)
-teaching students who will actually pay attention and do the work
-being able to teach more in depth classes (literature, art, advanced grammar, communication)
-the hours
-more trips to spanish speaking countries
-no parental involvement. (even the bad kind)

Cons of being a college professor
-Longer training period (you usually need a masters degree or a doctorate)
-teaching during the summer and night
-doing research for/and publishing papers
-you will still have students who are unmotivated and dont' care.

High School/Junior High
Cons- pay is not so great (not bad, but not great),
You will have students who don't care or want your class.
You will have disciplines problems because of this.
You may have to teach basic Spanish and not have as advanced classes
You will have parents who will harass you if they think you are doing something wrong
Pros-
wont have to teach summers or night classes,
don't have to publish papers to keep your certification.
You are also able to impact a students life so that he/she decides to go to college.
You are able to become acquainted with your students because you have them all year

It is a lot easier to find work as a Spanish teacher, there are many schools that need some one to teach from grades 1-12. There are fewer places to teach on university level.

In conferences for language teachers that I have been to, one can be a teacher without knowing very much Spanish.

I am not sure of the pro's and cons of each (sorry), but I guess you could ask yourself, who would you rather be teaching, Middle and High School Students or College Students?

I think a spanish teacher because being a proffessor requires more work.
