I myself have a 2000 corvette. Mobil 1 is the oil that GM has chosen to sponsor, if you will. If the car is out of warranty I suggest Amsoil full synthetic. I use it in almost everything, from seadoo to snowmobile, to truck, and car.

For a college project I tested oils. I had at the time a 1.8T jetta, Mobil 1 did the best!! after 6k miles very little was lost, Reguar Penzoil was next!!!! A non synthetic after 6k miles, Amsoil and then Castrols Synthetic was last. Both of those were shot!! after 6k miles. I would stick with The mobile 1 its not much more and it really does seem to make cars run smoother longer and after I did that project it was shocked. If you go to wal-mart its only 22bucks for a 5Q jug not a bad deal at all! Good luck hope this helps

Royal Purple, Amsoil, etc.
But, there is a huge difference between synthetic oil and FULLY synthetic oil. Read the labels carefully.

Synthetics are not advised for most Corvettes, only the C5 & C6. I would check out Castrol Synthetic:
