I have an almost five month old puppy and an almost year old cat. My cat keeps drinking out of the toliet, he has a water bowl, knows exactly where it's at, and it's always full so I dont know why he does it. After I clean the litter box, my puppy likes to go in it and just dig.. it has a lid and a little door, but she can still fit through it, I keep trying to get her to quit, but she keeps doing it. I would close the door but the cat needs it open, I put up a baby gate, but the cat cannot figure out to jump over it.... help? (BTW any rude answers or comments will be reported.)

I forgot to add that my cat had broke his front left arm back in December, so he cannot jump like most cats. It has healed and it looks normal, just is not very strong. I'm trying to work with him on his arm, but I dont want to push it ya know? BTW thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my question. I greatly appreaciate it!

As strange as it may sound I have had these same things happen. When I was a child we had a cat drink out of the toilet. I am not sure why she did this but it did not hurt her so we let her do it. She also would only sleep in the tub. Puppies will eat cat feces and he may smell it even though you have cleaned it out. I know it is gross but they do. He may also like the way the litter feels. We had a puppy a couple of years ago that would do this but it was all the time. We ask the vet and he recommended a spray bottle of water or a rolled up piece of paper. We tried both and neither seem to work honestly. I think that it is something that your puppy will need to outgrow or put the litter box in an area that only your cat can go. I know this will be difficult since he is limited with his leg injury. I would suggest somewhere like in a bathroom.

If you think your pets are weird, you should meet mine! I have a cat that sleeps with my lizard! Close the lid to the toilet and for the litter box maybe try placing it on a small table so your cat can get up there but not the dog.

Gosh, you were serious- you DO have weird pets. I wish I could help but I don't know how... maybe ask the vet at the next vet visit and keep the lid closed/door shut so the cat can't drink out of the toilet?

ok the cat that cant jump is weird, dog no, lol. close the toilet lid cause not good especally if you have a bowl freshener or just cleaned it, show your cat how to jump it, place paws on it, or place her on top to alow her to jump down, or place her it the room and she will learn. just place some treats on the other side and keep the puppy away from it

Wow, you do have the strangest pets? Who would have ever thought of having a dog and cat as pets?
Just be thankful that your dog doesn't like to eat the BROWNIES that the cat leaves in the litter box. It is like taking an anti-breath-mint.

cats like to have a constantly fresh supply of water. that is why most cats perfer to drink out of a toilet or faucet instead of the dishes. although my uncle has a cat that will only drink out of the fish bowl if there is a fish in it.

I really can't help you with you problem, but would like to say your pets or not so strange. My mother have yorkie/mix that thinks she is a cat. One of horses and my pitt that thinks they can eat every thing I have in my hand. My curr dog cleans her teeth after she eats.
