We are in agreement with everything concerning visitation with children.

It is always better to get a dissolution if you can. You have to agree on everything, which it sounds like you are. You do still need to get an attorney to represent you and do all the paper work and everything. Divorce is the hard way to go and it can get ugly. You are lucky to have this option! Good luck!

Also, I know that in Ohio you can decide on your own parenting time, a judge is not needed for that if you are in agreement. That is also the same for child support. I went through a dissolution and we came up with our own visitation schedule and our own child support. We had no issues. A judge only decides that if you can't do it amongst the two of you...

Dissolution and divorce are the same thing - some states just use different terms. If you are in agreement on every issue, you should go to a mediator who can help you draft the judgment and then you can present it to the court for approval. When children are involved a judge does have to review the documents to make sure that it all looks ok.

Good luck.

A dissolution and a divorce are the same thing. The terms are used interchangeably.

Yes, you can get a divorce when children are involved. You must still file all the proper paperwork and set out all the terms of the divorce decree such as property division, debt division, child support, custody, visitation, income tax exemptions, division of retirement accounts, etc. If it is all in order all you have to do is go to court after the proper length of time has passed and ask the judge to sign the decree.

Depending on the state, but California, when children are involved you cannot do a 3 page divorce. If you are already in agreement you should be able to have an attorney draw up papers and have a judge sign them then just wait for the 6 month period and you should have a dissolution of divorce paper received by your attorney.

This question, of course, gives another question.. What do you go by when considering a divorce? What is the reason for either choice? Both are actually divorce, according to the Bible as two will separate and may look for another! If you are Christian, Jesus gave one reason for divorce and non for separation, except for a limited time. 1 Corinthians chapter 7. If a spouse has been unfaithful; meaning had intercourse with another, divorce is allowed. Our laws in most Countries may go by some religious ideas, but they seem to avoid what Christ said about it. Some Countries do not even allow divorce but suggest annulment. That is just another word for divorce, as the same results, except for the amount spent! We also can look at other faiths and we see that divorce is not usually an option in these. We all may look at this differently, depending on what we believe. If it is money, only, as with one that has not belief in God, then dissolution is usually cheaper than divorce in most Countries. Why give your money to an outsider? God bless. Earl

You want to reverse an adoption?

Which US state are you writing about?

If you want to get a divorce you must specify who has custody of your children and what the visitation rights will be. Shouldn't you be discussing this with your attorney?
