Do you mean mixed in with the soil? That will kill the plant.
If you mean mixed with water and sprayed on the leaves. That will also kill the plant.
If you mean sprinkled dry onto the soil or the leaves. That will also kill the plant.
If you wash it off immediately and/or thoroughly rinse the soil through, it may do little damage.

It keeps the bugs off. Like aphids. Organic gardeners use soap & water as a pesticide.

If there is any other reason, I am not aware of it.

Odds are it will kill the plant or make it very sick, IF you did not rinse the soap off
