I don't believe that movie theaters will be around in the future. With the growing number of home theaters and digital media, I think that movie theaters will be obsolete. I think that new movies will go directly to pay per view. The movie industry would make more money this way. Think about it, it costs a lot to go to the movies now, around here it's about $10. Now if a family of 4 goes that's $40 the movie theater makes. But does that mean that the movie industry makes more than they would if they sold it on pay per view for $5 or $6? I don't think so. This is because the movie theater has operating costs such as employees, and electricity and the costs of their building. A lot of the money made at movie theaters comes from food and drink, which doesn't make the movie industry any more money. Payperview would appeal to a wider audience because nearly everyone could get it for a cheaper price, yet the industry would make more from the added customers and lower expenses. Opinions?

I believe there will be movie theaters - but fewer and they'll be very different...

Some will be the Deluxe Experience - for those seeking the night out - IMAX sized screens, dinner before and cocktails after all included in a luxury setting for top dollar.

Some will be underground screenings... party showings from DVD or downloaded copies projected on walls...

And there will be a few of those small struggling run down theaters trying to hold on to the movie and popcorn experience... projecting old style celluloid film on screens... a dying breed...

WOW!!! I have to say that you have put in a lot of thought about this. But I am not really sure. I would hope that they will still have movie theatres. But it's a weird topic. Your opinion is very...real. If I can say that. It's very logical...(thats the word)...but yeah people pay WAY to much to go see a movie. And plus when you want popcorn it costs about 5 or 6 bucks. Thats a lot. I like the whole Payperview idea. I wish they had that now.

it fairly is not purely in theaters, yet in many public places. Too undesirable the familiar public isn't probably to take your component interior the undertaking and you're left with some wild-eyed screaming B****. So take the theater administration's suggestion. In a eating place, document it to the administrative, be severe approximately it. If adequate human beings might arise to the BULLY mothers and dads and tell them to close the F up, because of the fact the only answerer mentioned, and embarrass them completely this public nuisance may well be much less typical. Edit: additionally in case you do not want open war of words and might pass some row returned and yell at her to close that youngster up, with a bit of luck others around you will take in the mantra, yet not likely.

True, true... however, movie theatres are a good place to get together with family and friends. Movie theatres have HUGE screens and great sound, most which cannot be held in a home. Plus, the popcorn tastes better. =D. I think that movie theatres will still be around, but in a more innovated way.

I disagree. Box office are what determines rankings and makes most of the movie's income. Movie theaters are a recreation for dates, boring nights, etc. Just because home theater technology is advancing doesn't mean movie theaters will be gone.
