I understand that different races have had trouble with eachother in the past and present. I understand that some people feel put down, and I feel so sorry, I wish i could do something. But I need a bit of help.
Lately my English teacher has made us read stories about racism and white idealism and feminism and they all talk about how white people are to blame and keep them down. I'm NOT debating this, but I just feel really sad. I lived in Northern ontario my whole life. I onyl saw one black person, and one asian family MY ENTIRE LIFE. But now I'm in the states for college, and I have to read all these things and i just feel so sad.... I do genealogy, m family never had any slaves or anything... I treat everyone the same because everyone is a person and everyone is important.... but the more I read the more I feel like, becuase I'm white and I'm not heavily feminist that people will hate me for soemtihng I've never done. I'd never hurt anyone.... but I feel so hurt.... how can I cope?

Sorry about Natives. I lived with Ojibwa and cree for half of my life. I never had any issues, my best friend is Ojibwa, so it didn't come to mind as a problem. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Don't feel bad, YOU have nothing to be ashamed about. We cannot undo the past, but we should learn from its mistakes...I am not a feminist either, I do believe in women's rights, but I'm not a strong advocate of women and men being the exact same. Equal, yes, but we have our different strengths, we don't have the same capabilities. I don't care who disagrees, but what man can bear a child and what woman can impregnate another person? Racial issues are still tense, understandably, because someone always has to mention it, someone is constantly accusing someone of being "racist" or making offensive remarks, judgments...
Don't worry about it, take it all with a grain of salt. Not all whites owned slaves and some helped to free them. There are good and bad people in every race, we should not judge others or ourselves negatively because of a few idiots that happen to be of the same color...

You are a human with a heart. Do not feel guilty for have done no wrong. Not just Whites, but any race can be racist. All you should do is live your life respecting all of your fellow spicies, as you say you have.
I blame all racist acts on ONE thing. Pride.

i think there are so many of us that really feel the same way you do,the only thing i can do is stay me and be thoughtful before i open my mouth,i've seen hate passed down so the young don't have any idea why they are spewing the crap they do.they use the excuses they've heard the older people use to continue the hate. I was around a quieter form of prejudice but i still noticed that it was wrong when i heard it.i can't excuse them .there is no excuse for their ignorance,but i can follow a different path.

The world is just a bad place. You seem like a good person. Be you and don't affiliate yourself with any group, because that gives you a lable. You shouldn't feel sad, because you didn't do anything.

Yes, white people are selfish, ethnocentric, and deceptive. They talk about other races behind their backs and have exploited almost every race in the world. Who built the railroads? Who cultivated this country while they sat on their fat butts? So when white people living today say that they never did anything to blacks in modern times they are lying. Whites reap the benefits of years of using black slaves to do their work.
White people are evil.
