I don't get it. I'm not a fan.. never have been & never will be. What's the attraction? What has made them so popular and in the minds of many... the greatest band?
Or do you think they are over rated?

Conie - Of course I've heard their music! It just doesn't appeal to me. A lot of my friends growing up thought they were the cat's meow. To me, it wasn't nearly aggressive enough and while creative, I found their style messy. How can the absence of one man (John Bonham) spell the end of a band? If Bonham hadn't died the way he did, the "legend" of Zeppelin wouldn't have been created. Just my opinion.

All I know is in 1974 I was at the beach and got a ride home with another guy and when I got in his car and this song was playing I had never heard before...I was just starting to get into music, and I asked wow who is that...Led Zepplin...I was instantly hooked. Jimmy Page was a genius for coming up with the sound, Robert Plant could really get up there in the high octaves and john bonam really pounded the drumbs...they were and still are the greatest band of all time. Saw them in 76 in the capital center, was the most electric crowd I have ever been in in my life. We almost broke down an entire bank of doors at the cap center. The cops had tehm borded of course but the whole frame was bending like 100 ft and teh cops would pusha door open pepper spray us and then slam the doors....we were psyched to say the least to see them. zepplin rules...physical graffiti is my favorite album...the immigrant song is brutal.

I always thought the contrary: they are one of the most underrated bands to be ever brought out by man. Their sound is strewn with everything you could've asked for: liveliness, originality, sheer quality, harmony etc. Many say they aren't that good due to personal reasons.

My Dad thinks they are one of the greatest bands, the 1st heavy metal band, the band that all metal bands copy and heavy metal is called that because led (lead) is a heavy metal. go figure

At the time they were a great act, many have followed, many have copied. Yet these days, they sound a little dated.

Jimmy Page is the mad scientist of guitar, their lyrics are raw and beautiful- but hey, to each their own

Part of it depends on your age.
Man they were great in the late 60s and early 70s!
Now i don't care too much about them.
I don't smoke weed now either.

to tell you the truth....i think he's way overrated
he's not bad, but just because it's probably the best known name in Rock doesn't mean he's the best
even though i hate Sairway to Heaven (find it really boring) it's true that Led was up there with Jimi, Frampton, Page, etc...

They are divinely sent from above....their music is original and full of talent.
NEVER could they be considered over rated.
