I am 17 and my girlfreind is 18. We live in Tn and the legal age of consent is 18. We have been dating for 6 months. We want to take our relationship to the next level. We are both worried about the consequences if we get caught. How can we further our relationship and still be within the law?

Personally I say wait. I live in TN right now. They really frown on this subject. I would wait until your next birthday. What a celebration for you both, you will both be legal age.
Also if either of your parents found out they could get her into deep crap with the charge stachatory rape!
The age of consent in Tennessee is 18.
Parents can NOT give consent for their children to do something that's against the law. You wouldn't say that parents could give permission for their children to rob banks; this is no different, except that it's a sex crime.

IF the legal age of consent is 18 and you are only 17, if she has sex with you, it is statutory rape. Wait until you are 18 and keep her out of jail. If YOU can not keep your zipper zipped, it just proves you are too immature to give consent anyway. No self respecting guy would risk getting his girl friend sent to jail.

You can legally talk to your parents and so can your girlfriend. At your age I don't think you know what the "next level" is.
That is why laws are made and enforced. They are supposed to make you abide by the law and not do something that could get you and yours in trouble.
Usually at the age of you and the girl the next level means breaking up and dating someone else. That is why it is called dating and not called marriage.
Everyone is telling you to go ahead and have sex, no one will know. YES, someone WILL know. You and the girl will know and you cannot undo it. That act will follow both of you the rest of your life.........................!!!

If you have sex, just don't brag about it. If all you really want to do is "take your relationship to the next level" then you shouldn't have any problem not bragging to all of your friends that you're "gettin' some" from an older girl. If nobody except for the two of you know about the sex, who's going to call the cops?
