last time I bought a cd was 1999. she had a beautiful voice and I believe she sang Irush love songs with the ballads and typical Irish music. She was rather popular in the United States around 1998 and 1999 or so. thank you so much for your help

she had a few cd's in the late 1998 - 1999.
she was the lead singer and had at least one accapello song on a cd. I have looked at a few of the artists you have suggested but none are her. I know she had at least four cd's by 1999

Probably Enya. She was the lead singer of her family band then went on her own. Her sister took over the lead singer role and sounds just like her so you may be having a hard time telling them apart - I know I do.

Enya's voice sounds so lush and full because she layers her voice over itself repeatedly - maybe 20 or more times. She must use taped recordings in concert because of this. I'm sure you can listen to a clip of her music to see if this is the one you are looking for.

Just google Enya.

Loreena McKennitt comes to mind, but she's Canadian. She sang a song that was high on the charts during that time called "The Mummer's Dance".
