Is there any way of reporting a scam letter and check ?

I took it to my bank to show it to my friend, she checked it and it was a phony, is there any way of getting the scammers in trouble?

CALL YOUR LOCAL POLICE AND MAKE A REPORT OR THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OR THE FBI IF IT INVOLVES A COUNTRY OTHER THAN YOUR OWN.REMEMBER IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT PROBALY IS.GOOD LUCK.
