Originally I wanted to buy this specific brand Dell Laptop off of Dell's official website, but they insist on having the OS be Windows Vista rather than XP. Does anyone know where I can just purchase this laptop WITHOUT the troublesome Vista OS, that's causing so many people problems?

Windows Vista is a great operating system. I tried it for my self. I suggest you try it out at Best Buy or something. But if you insist, go to ebay or something

Most your major stores curcuit city, Best BUy , CompUsa still have many xp os . as your previous answer check some thats on display see how you like vista I have heard both good and bad from vista personally i was on of ther beta users . it had a few issues. and i have heard of many more on the final version, it will take alittle time they will have updates and hot fixes for all the issues, same way as XP did at their beginning, I dont feel it will be a disaster OS like windows M.E. (millenium Edition) but we will soon find out. also check Ebay you can find new Dell systems there with XP. if No luck and the big famous build your own dell adverstisrs dont wanna help you even though they say Build youw own system with DELL . then maybe its time to consider a different brand but honestly going directly through any computer maniufcatures website or calling them rather its dell, HP, Gateway etc.. they all probably gonna try and force you to go with Vista because they have a deal with microsoft and they may not be able get the same support with XP that they can with Vista being its the latest tahts what everyone gonna try and sell. but going through major stores you very well may find xp machines left on the shelf. Good Luck

Why don't you go to any mayor store, and try for yourself all the new computer on display with Vista and see for yourself how Vista works, you might change your mind and end up buying one of a different brand.
As a matter of fact Compusa still have plenty XP OS laptops on line
