Dont! The American Academy of Pediatrics just said that you should not start your baby on any foods until 6 months. It can cause allergies and many other problems. Cereal never helped my child sleep better. I think its crazy when people do this. Its really bad for their intestinal track. Formula or breast milk only until 6 months!

It depends on your reasoning behind wanting to start cereal so early. Usually, cereal is introduced between 4-6 months. Doctors often tell one to start their child on cereal for a couple of reasons such as the baby not gaining the right amount of weight, not satisfied with the current amount of food its being fed, or waking up too often at night. Unless your doctor tells you to start it, then I would wait. He's too young still to be able to fully handle solids. Good luck!

You are not suppose to feed a baby cereal in the bottle, so my question how is your 2mo old baby going to sit in the high chair to eat cereal?? They say to start at 4mo and to make it really diluted. Even at 4mo it is a lot of work to give a baby cereal. I would suggest waiting. Plus hold your baby and feed him or her the bottle its such a nice bonding experience that you wont have forever. They grow up so fast.

i'd wait until at least three or four months because depending on how you're feeding him now nutritionally there's probably not much point and it will just be frustrating and messy for you both. by four or five months breastfeed babies will start to need a bit more iron than nursing alone can give and it's nice to start those types of babies then. formula babies have so much iron included that i think they can go longer. but by five months you definitely want to be starting on solids because 1. it's kind of fun and 2. it's great to start to get them on some sort of a normal people kind of feeding schedule and 3. it sure helps fill up the bellies on a nursed baby and helps them start sleeping through the night a little more readily.

That is a difficult question to answer without more information such as; are you nursing or feeding formula? Is your baby gaining weight properly? Generally though, it is not necessary to give cereal at 2 months. Have you considered signing up for WIC? Besides providing you with formula (or healthy foods for yourself if nursing) WIC provides nutrition classes that can be beneficial to a new mother.

Ask your Pediatrician before starting cereal. Some babies could have allergies to the ingredients. Rice is usually the first one they say to start with. I believe (it's been a long time since I had my children) that it is 1 tbs per 4 oz but again, ask the Pediatrician first. Good luck!

Do the research...you'll find that almost all healthcare professionals (including the AAP) say to wait until 6 months old for any solids. Formula and/or breastmilk is enough until that age.

at 2 months you should start with juice. pedia's don't advice feeding solid foods to babies at an early age as they are still adjusting with the digestion process of their body.
