Not only do I think Al Gore should have won against George Bush, he would have, if Jeb would have let the Democratic districts in Florida vote. It's tough to lose when your daddy was the former head of the CIA and an ex President, and you brother controls the electoral votes of Florida, a major state election wise.
Even with the deck totally stacked in George Bush's favor, the Supreme Court Justices his daddy appointed had to put him into the White House against the wishes of the American People.
We should outsource our politicians to India, we would get higher quality representation for much lower wages.

Technically, Al Gore DID win against George Bush.
Gore won the popular vote regardless of how the votes in Florida are counted. He was the choice made by the American voters.
This election is the best example yet of the failure of the Electoral College. Congress needs to pass a Constitutional Amendment to do away with the Electoral College. It's been nothing but trouble and in this day and age, it is entirely unnecessary.

Wow, human beings fairly don't be responsive to historic past right here, even modern historic past. the reason Bush gained is via the fact the suited court docket blocked yet another recount. After the election, it became into desperate that Gore did win the favored vote (by utilising an particularly small margin). that's no longer a contested actuality. the two factors settle for this. To the OP, Bush did no longer win "in line with regulation", he gained based on the indisputable fact that the suited court docket had extra conservatives than liberals on the time...

He did win. But the deciding state was Florida, the armpit of the country, which is also sheltering OJ Simpson from paying anything for the civil judgment against him. It's also a very odd coincidence that the governor of Florida just happened to be George W's brother. Hmmmm.

Al Gore actually received 500,000 more votes then George Bush but due to dirty tricks in Florida and a Supreme Court that should not have gotten involved on George Bush's behalf we got stuck with G. Bush. Not only did he take us to war but he is succeeding in diminishing the quality of life in the United States.
I agree with you!

One only needs to look at the state in dispute, Florida. Jeb Bush is governor just happens to be brother of George. Kathleen Harris who had much to do with recount or lack or recount. In the end five "activists" judges chose Bush to "king George."

The reason that he was NOT installed as the President is because of the antiquated long overdue to be eliminated Electorial College garbage--- He DID win the popular vote-- and that my friend IS A FACT !!!
I have long held that the Electorial College is a slight of hand measure used by the power brokers to manipulate the elections in this country to suit the "urban" areas against the more "rural" communities and I have been advocate for this piece of trash to BE TRASHED for years !! Popular vote SHOULD rule the day in a society that is supposedly SO proud about TRUE REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT--- whether we actually HAVE IT or NOT !!!!
