I need less sleep than I did when I was younger. I don't get up at 5am usually, more like 5:30 - 6:00am, but I'm rarely in bed before midnight. Getting up early is nice because I get a lot done before the day "starts" for most people.

Im not exactly a dawn watcher, but when I was 27 i lived in the mountains I would get up early with my working bf to help him out the door cause we like to stay up late. one morning I walked down the street and an old lady said aren't the mornings beautiful?
And even though I knew it was nice having seen deer outside my window, it made me take a closer look. Mornings are beautiful with everything all fresh..
But I guess it isn't until most people are older to have to get to up early and then having nothing else to do.
I still notice the beauty it even though I'm in the city. I like sunsets, late night and early mornings with a nap in between.
I take naps in the day if I actually need to (rarely).

Because us "old" people go to work early. This stems from the days when most people farmed or ranched. You got up early to feed stock, gather wood, before the rest of the work day. I wasn't a farmer, but even as a kid I had a paper route, which meant getting up early. Now I get up early so I can have time to myself before I go to work at 6:30am.

Well their muscles makes them wake up earlier and they probably dont get enough sleep on night which causes them to wake up at 5 am and early. It also might be because it might be an old habit for them to wake up very early.Their back might give them trouble and wakes them up. Walking around a bit gets the kinks out of it so they can sleep again. It also might be because in the summer 4AM becomes 5AM via daylight savings time and since we have to turn off all our yard sprinklers at eleven,The elderly might think it’s good to get out there at first light, which this far north can be so early it’s practically the night before.Hope this helps!!

Well, they eat dinner at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, have their pajamas on by 6:30 pm and are in bed by 8:00 pm. They get up at 5:00 am so they can read the paper, eat some bran flakes, and have a nice, healthy, old-person bowel movement.
God, I so don't want to get old.

Old people? Its not just old people. Some young people get up early too. Maybe its because they like watching the sun come up.

They are morning people. The don't stay up late plus they have full bladder and gota make it to the bathroom in time and since they are old it takes them longer to get dressed and make breakfast and do their errands. Hey, the sooner they finish the sooner they can sit down and relax for the rest of the day.
