You can tell at 2 weeks but its hard. You tell by seeing what bits they have. Also I would not recomend getting two females, they will fight. Best to get a male and a female, then get the female neutered, this stops the agresive behaviour. Please also understand that these rabbits will be your responsibility. Never buy a pet and assume a child will look after it. Also Rabbits need more than just a hutch to live in, they need a large run to exercise in also. Sorry if you allready know all this, but it really angers me when people buy animals and dont understand what is involved in their care. Good luck!

I couldn't tell the sex either until someone showed me how. You hold them on their backs, push in on the sides of their anus or whatever it is and if it seems more round than it is probably a male. If it is triangular it is most likely a female. I read in a rabbit book that the male's anus/penus is further away from the stool area. (Poop area). If this isn't enough information you could go to a verterinarian and have them show you or you could go to a rabbit breeder. I suggest that you read the book "The simple guide to rabbits." It has lots of info in it.

Hi,

If they are not very good at telling the sex of a rabbit, then I would not trust them at all!!

The thing is, if you know what you are doing/watching, it is very straight forward. therefore you either know or dont know.

it is very tricky to explain how to determine the sex of a rabbit (especially 2 weeks old ones) by writing. let's try: hold the bunny on his back, remove the tail from the genital area and ''stretch'' the genital area. A penis should appear for the males, a ''fissure'' for the females.

Good luck

I have had a litter of rabbits and you wait till they are 3 or 4 weeks old. Then you pull threir tail down and pull on either side. If it's is a triangle shape then it's a girl. if it is sticking out it is a boy!
Good luck and have fun!

It is notoriously difficult to sex Rabbits. My little Lionhead was bought as a boy and named Cedric.....It was only when she was taken for her jabs that we found out otherwise. Her name was then amended to Ceddy.
