Toyota's are the second most reliable in the world, Honda being first. Toyota has had some recalls, but all cars do. There isnt a car that has not had a recall.

Toyotas come at the top of every reliability survey, a while back I read an article about how Toyota forces their suppliers to meet very strict and over the top quality criteria. I have not heard about any unusual number of recalls, but a recall is simply the manufacturers willingness to correct a problem.

It is a myth, all vehicles are made the same,on the assembly line.I work at Toledo Jeep Wrangler assembly and got the same quality training that Toyota gives it's employees. We take as much pride in our work as Toyota employees.Toyota and Nissans have been having a lot of recalls and quality decline as they start building the amount of vehicles as the big 3 did.If people want to buy Jap cars that is up to them,it doesn't bother me that Toyota sells more cars. What bothers me is the unfair value of the yen to dollar which gives them a $4500avg gain on every vehicle imported. That is Jap goverment and Jap auto makers keeping the yen undervalued so they get more of your money. And don't say they build the vehicles here, half of them sold in US are still imported.US auto makers also employee more than 3X as many workers in US as Jap's do,so keep buying those Jap cars and you too may soon be out of a job and we will be living in 3rd world conditions.

Toyotas are probably one of the 2 most dependable cars on the market today, the other would be Hondas. I've driven both, and love both. If you keep up with standard maintenance on either vehicle, your car will last indefinitely. I know you don't believe that, but my husband has a Honda Prelude (1986) with almost 300,000 miles on it, still runs just fine. (needs a new a/c though) My husband also drove a 1992 Toyota Camry--his parents now drive it. It has over 250,000 miles on it...still runs fine (and the a/c works too!) I drove a 1994 Toyota Previa (mini-van--forerunner to the Sienna), we sold it to a friend of ours. It has almost 300,000 miles on it, and she loves it.

In contrast, I had a 2001 Chevy Tahoe, and it needed to have the transmission replaced at 75,000 miles. I traded it for an Acura MDX in 2006, it currently has about 30,000 miles on it. Or, as my hubby says, it's not even broke in yet. I'm planning on driving that car for a long, long time!!

I have an '30 Rav4... 90,000 miles... no recalls, and I've done nothing to it except change the oil religiously and replace the tires. I'd buy one again in a heart beat. I like it so much, my hubby is now looking at getting a Toyota, too.

Much better than the Chevy's we've had in the past.

To me the biggest point is that all modern cars and trucks are much more reliable than they were 20 years ago no matter who manufactures them now. That's the result of computer automated design and quality parts manufacturer's that make all the individual components the car manufacturer buys. In addition, you have fuel injection as compared to carburetors and solid state ignition systems as compared to kettering points ignition just to mention a couple of examples of modern reliability.

although toyotas are the ultimate chink-mobile and could only be seen as good looking to someone with slanted eyes, they are, however, reliable with the exeption to the the scion line up, which are not only ugly but horribly underpowered and could be beaten by a stock pacer the only people who find these cars in any way as quality pieces of crap are women and homosexuals such as the ones roaming france and canada, (san fransico) as well

thats because they are the new versions of their trucks because there are still some bugs, but yeah toyotas are pretty reliable.

lets just put it this way, i have a 1989 4cyl. camry with 212,000 miles on it. I put 300-400 dollars a year in it, even now, and i can still cruise at 80 mph safely for my seventy mile each way a day drive to work.
