This is one of the questions I asked during lamaze classes. The nurse said if I had a BM during delivery that she'd give me a high-five and say "you go girl". She said it's because if you DO have a BM, then you're using the right muscles. It's a common occurance. Don't be embarassed, girl. Those nurses and doctors have seen EVERYTHING.

You are not supposed to take enema's when you are pregnant! Especially when you are in labor! You would become de-hydrated! I crapped all over the Dr. and the nurses when I delivered my baby! Not a big problem. Just bring some air freshner! It will make the room smell good! Plus, you just had something come out your twatt- It is not going to smell like roses! It stinks but hell so does labor and delivery! Just make sure you don't throw up on the Dr. - that's embaressing!

You could ask but really, why is it that high on your list of things to worry about?
You won't tear your cervix by emptying your bowels- this could be why you had such an awful experience.

Use your loo before you go to hospital, and as often as you need during your contractions before the hard pushing begins.

I'm not sure but I would just not eat anything once you start having contractions. I went into labor at 10am and hadn't eaten since 5pm the day before and I had no problems. So just don't eat anything after a certain time at night and try during labor that way you wont go while pushing. I think some hospitals sometimes give enemas so you should probably try to talk to your doctor and see what options she can give you.

Hard to believe but having one is is a good thing. It shows the nurses and doctors that you are pushing with the right muscles. Although diarhea would be bad. When did you eat last? I would not eat while in active labor. That's what I did and ended up with one turd. I don't think you can avoid pooping there just isn't space for poop and a baby in that space.

Also, ask your nurses for help once you get there. Tell them what happened last time and let them know you how it made you feel and that you do NOT want a repeat scenario. Nurses are great and will do everything to make sure it doesn't happen again.

yes you could, I had a bm while delivering my first, I know how embarrassing it can be but OB nurses say that its actually a good sign because it shows them that you are using the right muscles to push. You could request an enema or do one at home if you wanted to, you can buy them at any drugstore. I would consult your doctor about first though.

Hey, **** happens!!! HAHAHA I did it too its really no big deal. I think alot of women go through this. Its not like your Dr hasnt seen it happen before. I dont think that they really do enemas anymore. But if you are at home and still in the early stages of labor you can take a laxative. I have heard that they help a little. But there is really nothing else you can do to prevent it. Sorry hun.

Just be careful of what you eat and drink around the time to deliver. Don't eat foods high in sugars or spices that will give you diarrhea. Try not to be so nervous, as that would upset your stomach also. I had a friend that pooped when she was delivering...she had over indulged herself close to the day she delivered. She delivered 2 pounds of poop at the same time her baby was being birthed. EEW! Good Luck!

I think the hospital will actually give you an enema specifically for that reason. Ive heard that many women have doctors that suggest first, so I'm sure if you ask ahead of time they can also give you some ideas for different food for that last week maybe?

Just go to the toilet, thats what I did. I was constantly on the toilet during labour and not much happened. But I didnt have a BM whislt actually delivering the baby. How is it going to tear your cervix if you poo? Mine didn't.
