Okay, so i have to make different lava lamps for science and i was wonering if anyone could give me a list of polar liquids and non-polar liquids that together are immiscible and would make a lava lamp... preferably liquids that i can find fairly easily... thanks!

try olive oil, canola oil, any type of oil you can get
and some water, but try putting some food color in the warer for a cool effect.

But if you want it to have the true lava lamp effect, it will be more complicated. melt down some wax in a glas jar then add oil (NOT water), find a way to heat up the bottome of the jar (like a really hot lamp) and the wax will go into a liquid state and then rise to the top in shapes like a lava lamp
