I hear alot of people talk down on him. Whats not to like?
He had a 98.1 Qb Rating his first season in the league. He was 15-0 in the regular season. He lost to the Superbowl champion Pats in the AFC championship.

He second season he had a 98.6 Qb rating. He promised Jerome Bettis he would get him a Superbowl and did it at the same time becoming the youngest Qb ever to win a Superbowl.

Last season he was plagued by injury but after a nasty start in those first 4 games which I think everyone can agree he should not have been playing in. In the last 12 games he had a 93.1 rating and threw 18 tds. He lost some harsh games to B-more, not to mention he literally threw away the game vs. OAK. But this guy is good top 10 Qb definitly. With him and the D healthy Pittsburgh will be a contender.

Jealousy. Plain and simple, the analysts hate on him because he came out of nowhere and they didn't pick him, they all talked on and on and ON about how great Eli was supposed to be. Then, when we didn't go undefeated in the 2005 and hit 7-5 at week 13, they all but wanted to call him a bust. You can tell the ones that don't like him because they ALWAYS bring up that lousy Super Bowl game he had, but seem to have selective memory, because the three playoff games before that he was MONEY. 7 TD's to 1 INT money. Yet, they don't seem to bring up how below average Peyton was this entire post-season (he shouldn't have won MVP, should have been Dominic Rhodes).

This past season was rough, and while I don't know Ben off the field, I put this season as a testament of his character, and we found out that he's a tough cookie, mentally and physically. He had a few ready made excuses to blame his poor play on: motorcycle accident, appendicitis, second concussion at the Falcons game (how I loathe the officials for that game, two blatant helmet-to-helmets, no fines or a goddamn 15-yard penalty). But he never used them; he took on all the blame. He even blamed the Ravens game on himself when he got sacked NINE TIMES!! Come on, our O-Line was like a sieve in 2006, but he continued to take all the criticism, and for that he's more than earned my respect. Now...
*Takes off Steelers homer rose colored glasses*
Ben has always walked that line between confident and arrogance. Going undefeated your rookie regular season, and then winning the Super Bowl your second will give you that swagger about yourself that you’re almost indestructible. Ben is human, if I achieved anything like that, I'd have a major attitude and become a total prima donna. Hopefully, this past season deflated his head, because this was his worst one ever, including college where I think he lost like 2 games the whole time he was a starter. Ben also needs to learn that luck and talent only get so far, he has to really start to buckle down and get in sync with his receivers, *Puts Steelers homer rose colored glasses back on* and the NFL better watch out when he does, because they won't know what hit them.

Cheers!

P.S. People, please stop saying that if you can't get back to the playoffs after winning Super Bowl means you're no good. The Patriots didn't make it back after their first win either! They went 8-8, the same as us. But I guess that's that selective memory again. Now, I'm not going to say that we're going to win again next year, new coach, new system, we have to get used to it, but don't write us off yet.

he's not a nasty QB in any respect, besides the undeniable fact that the arguement that folk make is they opt for him to be considered between the elite QBs, at the same time with Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees. sure, the Steelers received 2 SBs at the same time as because the starting up QB, yet he did not win the them. The crew received them at is is quite sparkling that he performs in a run first offense that wins video games with the heavy help of the protection. What roethlisberger does is help open up the run recreation. he's not utilising the crew to win like bypass first QBs the position it truly is quite significant to have an elite passer. there's a magnitude of QBs that would want to be positioned on the Steelers and get a similar fulfillment. for this reason, he receives the hyped up tag because many will try an argue that he's between the elite. you won't be able to argue SB rings as a starting up of his fulfillment. it truly is like saying Hines Ward is a extra useful WR than Larry Fitzgerand, Andre Johnson, Steve Smith, etc who've none. Is Willie Parker a extra useful RB than Barry Sanders who does no longer have a SB win? comparing QBs, is gigantic Ben a extra useful QB than Dan Marino who has none? Jim Plunkett has 2 SB wins, has undesirable stats and is no longer a HOF. Does that make him between the most suitable over Peyton Manning? Do you note my factor? What maximum football followers that keep on with the game properly, they see extra to the game than merely the QB position. They know that football video games at the on the spot are not received fullyyt on the backs of the QB position. allow's positioned enormous Ben on the Lions and we does no longer have this communicate. Thumbs as a lot as those that agree.

Because he is overrated. During those first 2 years Pittsburgh had a superbadass running game. That put him in a very easy situation. He didn't have to make the big play to win the game, he only had to make the easy plays that the running game set up for him. He wasn't 15-0, the Steelers were, and he should not be treated like he is some magic tonic. He was on a good team but is not the catalyst. I was even a fan of his the first year he played. But then he revealed himself to be arrogant, and that is not a desirable quality in some one who actaully is that good, let alone him. He was bad in the superbowl. Kyle Boller would have had similar success on that team. Do Steeler fans really give him that much credit? There are great players on the team, but he is not one of them. Me and my friends were talking last night about a show he had watched that said he is the last one to come to practice and the first one to leave. Hes a bit of a bum.

After last season's performance, his hype just completely disappeared. He had more INT's than TD's (23 to 18) last season, had a 75.4 QB rating last season, and only had 59.7% completion percentage last season. He is way past his prime due to his injury, and if you can't even make it to the playoffs after winning the Super Bowl, it's hard to see why he wouldn't be scrutinized for his game. Now that Cowher is gone, the Steelers won't be getting back into rhythm for a long time.

I don't hate him, but I hate the fact that people rank him in the top 5 QBs on occasion (although it's mostly overconfident Steeler fans). He's not a bad QB, clearly, but he's not one of those guys that's from the average QB mold like Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Tom Brady, or any of those guys. He's more of a guy you want to just plain help win games, not run a team...I'd take him for Carolina right now, not a big fan of the QB we have...

I agree.

@ J-***. Well, Tom Brady missed the play-offs after winning the Super Bowl...nuff said.

@ Scabes. You said the Steelers got lucky on their Super Bowl run? pfft. Yeah beating the top 3 seeds in the AFC, and the best team in the NFC. So I don't know how that they can get lucky 4 times in a row against good team.

AMEN! people only hate on ben because he's good, ben had a bad year last year that's understandable considering all of the injuries, but people can't forget that he's also the youngest qb to win a sb, and JNIG, how can the guy be past his prime, he's only been in the league for 3 years, my money says he hasn't even hit his prime and he's already got a ring. people can say what they wanna say about him, but us pittsburgh fan's will be the ones laughing when ben gets that second ring.

people do not like him because he does not produce big yardage and TDs numbers as a result of the run-heavy offenses he played in, and while i disagree with the notion of QBs being no good because they aren't getting huge numbers, i have to say that i am one of those "big ben haters" you refer to...i believe that he was overhyped his first two seasons and won solely as a result of his defense and running game, and let's face it, how lucky did the steelers get during that playoff run for carson palmer to go down on the first play and the most accurate kicker in NFL history to miss a kick that badly...so clearly you should be able to recognize that i don't think he's a top 10 defense and is most certainly not the centerpiece or key point to this team in any way

plus, i don't think many people understand how much that motorcycle damaged his image in the public eye...as well as damaging some parts of his body also

To say that Ben Worthlessberger had some harsh games against the Ravens is a severe understatement. For his physical and mental well-being, the Steelers should put the 3rd string QB in for that game. Ben would probably like that, since being sacked 14 times in those 2 games is nothing fun, and the time he was sacked by Bart Scott he called "the hardest I've ever been hit in my life." He got hit by a car 4 months before that and he still called that the hardest hit he's ever taken and said he had trouble breathing. While this isn't his fault, the numerous INTs he threw weekly were.
