I am just wondering if anyone knows why PETA always insists on using half-naked women to advance its message. Does PETA not have good arguments, or does it figure that this is the only way people will listen to it? It just confuses me that as a nation trying to create a society in which everyone is judged by their inner qualities, and NOT how they look, that one of our supposedly most progessive interest groups simply parades around half-naked women everytime it has something to say. How is this progress? I sympathize with some of their arguments, but think they're are an idiotic organizarion, and I just feel like it cheapens their message... I will admit, Alicia Mayer looked damn fine in these photos: http://news.yahoo.com/i/964;_ylt=AtqgnQkBYuEzj.wAWwGFR3NH2ocA
What are your thoughts?

PETA is a radical extremist organization that prides themselves on violence....Their idea to protect animals, is admirable, but their actions are abominable

Another thing I have always wondered about Peta is why don't they campaign countries that kill animals as part of their scientific research and only pick on the farmers and other easy targets.Pamela Anderson is from Canada and look what happens to the seals and what about the whaling at least Greenpeace try and protect all animals..

Most of the ads are "I would rather be naked than wear fur" so I think it is fitting to use them naked. I think PETA is wonderful most of the time they will fight to the end to help save animals from abuse and neglect and that is great!! I don't like how they were spraying paint on people who were wearing fur that was overboard. I can't stand people who wear fur either but, I would never violate them like that even if they do tick me off. PETA exposes companies that abuse animals and for that I thank them.

I think it is because many people are so close-minded and stuck in their ways that they won't listen to what PETA has to say. PETA has to use half-naked women to get the attention of the public and the media, and I suppose they hope that their message will get through to a few people.

PETA tends to be a bit on the extreme side. And their idea of "ethical" is not exactly mainstream nor practical.
Throwing paint on people solves nothing.
Zoos have a practical reason for existing.
Not all of us want to be vegetarians.

PETA doesn't strike me as a "mainstream" organization exactly.
There are many organizations that promote the ethical treatment of animals without going to the extremes that you see from PETA.
This isn't to say that PETA isn't credible, or doesn't have a good message (I'm going to leave that one alone), but I think they could benefit greatly from a more moderate image.

Their message is idiotic even though it may alleviate some kind of guilt they have inside of themselves. Meat tastes good, people love to eat it and will do so till the end of time. Their pictures are great though.

PETA always has several different campaigns going on, but you only hear about ones like these.
They do it because it brings attention to them, which they believe also brings attention to their cause.
Sex sells, period.

Best T-shirt I have seen:
P (eople for)
E (ating)
T (asty)
A (nimals)
I am an animal lover - currently have over 20 different animals - but I am also a realist & omnivore leaning towards carnivore.
PETA is an over-rated orginazation that misleads otherwise good people.
