In other words, do people ever truly better themselves solely because they gain financial success? Or will they always just keep doing the stupid things they did before they acquired fame and fortune?

How can athletes, who live every boy's dream and are paid to 'play a game' end up so screwed up? History is full numerous sports figures who succumbed to drugs and alcoholism, regardless of their backgrounds. Does it make sense to you that it happen?

money spoils all people who do not work regular 9-to-5 jobs, unless they are professional gamblers or some other profession that deals with money exchanging hands on a day-to-day basis...athletes tend to get bored in their offseasons and need something to do, and since they are often young guys they go out and get into trouble by doing stupid things...that is the major problem i think
