Which one is more dependable and more reliable window operating system or linux operating systems, my friend recommed me to have linux system though i do not know the benefit of the linux except it is free

Well, Linux is better than Windows because you never get viruses. This is because you mostly don't download exe's and applications.
I recommend for a new user to use OpenSUSE 10.2. It's easy to install and a nice gui. Use GNOME for now, when installing.

I like Linux and Windows, but I would choose windows, because there is so many more programs compatable with it, and as long as you don't download random stuff from the internet/email, you should remain virus/spyware free.

in windows you don't have to write commands, it display windows when you click on the command by mouse, whereas in linux you have to write commands in a specific way to get the system work , it doesn't display windows.
