no. it means you have already ovulated. here's how it works.

Step 1: egg is created in the ovaries
Step 2: egg is released, travels down the fallopian tubes to the uterus (OVULATION)
Step 3: uterus builds up a lining of blood and protein, ready to supply the egg with nourishment if it is fertilized with sperm
Step 4: if not fertilized, the lining of blood and protein is shed, along with the egg (PERIOD)

so, therefore, the ovulation happens two steps before the actual releasing of blood, AKA the period. Hope that helps!

Ovulating occurs when you are NOT having your period. Every woman's ovulation time is different. The best way to know when your ovulation times are during the month is to go to the Dr. where they can test u, or now they have kits at the store that are with the pregnancy tests to check to see if and when youre ovulating. Your period is that egg and uterus lining being discharged out of your body since it wasnt used. They are two very different things!

I remember this from sex education class in the 8th grade . . . Each month the uterus prepares to receive a fertilized egg by building up a supply of tissue and blood. When there is no fertilized egg that attaches itself to the uterine wall, the tissue and blood begin to sluff off, thus causing the menstrual flow. Typically, ovulation occurs about midway between your periods, but not during your period. The only way to know for sure if you are ovulating, is to see an ObGyn . . . . . or, if you should turn up pregnant, that's a pretty reliable indication, too.

Having a period does not mean that you are ovulating.

Ovulation occurs near the middle of the cycle. Having a period is natures way of refreshing the blood supply to the uterus.

It means you ovulated and the egg didn't get fertilized. The blood is the thin uterine lining that was ready to receive implantation of the fertilized egg. When an egg isn't fertilized, KERPLUNK! Down it comes, lining and all.
