Well, you can have a water birth in hospital, so they would be the same thing...or do you mean on a bed birth?
Water is far easier on mom and baby- the baby has grown up in liquid, so bringing him/her into the world via a birthing pool is a more gentle introduction to the world.
I wish I had had this option at the hospital I delievered at...but they had no pools there :(

It would be a hospital birth for me.
I have heard that Water births are easier for both mother and baby, but i would be too nervous to do it.

Water birth is truly wonderful... BUT you have to do what feels right for you. I would not think in terms of "better," but instead what is "better for you".
Here's a link to the Waterbirth International website, where you can find out lots of information: http://www.waterbirth.org/mc/page.do
A great book on the topic is "Gentle Birth Choices" by Barbara Harper.

I'd have to say no to the water birth, because you can't have an epidural if you wanted.
