There are a vast numbers of pill combinations that will effect each person differently. The same goes for the shot, patch and ring.
I personally used the shot for over 4 years with NO side effects. However, I've heard horror stories of women gaining 30-50 lbs.
I'm currently using YAZ combined BCP's, and I've lost 10 lbs. It all has to do with how the hormones effect your metabolism and whether or not YOU can control your urge to eat.
The thing to remember is that its NOT the pill that makes you gain. Its the fact that the hormones make you CRAVE certain things on occasion. If you give in to these cravings in excess you will gain weight. That's just a fact of life.
If you're unwilling to try hormonal treatments then there are other barrier methods besides condoms. These include the Today sponge, diaphragms, Lea's Shield and cervical caps. All of them can be fairly effective if used in conjunction with spermicides and fertility awareness methods.

There are no calories in birth control (well, nothing significant). Some forms cause a slowing of the metabolism, some cause increase in appetite but even those known for "weight gain" side effects don't affect every woman that way.
I've been on Depo Provera for a decade, and it's well known for the women taking it to gain weight. While on it I've been at my hightest and lowest weights of my adult life...but that's because of what I do (or do not) put in my mouth. I've never considered blaming the depo for my size.
You won't know what side effects you will encounter from any bc until you try it for yourself. Decide, from all the options, which sounds like it would fit your lifestyle best, discuss it with your doctor, and then give it a go.

I take Ortho-Tri-cyclene-Lo. The Lo is important because there is a lower level of the hormones in it. I haven't gained any weight while taking it, and it helps minimize my cramps.

I don;t think there is anything, all birth control methods have artificial hormones, u never know how ur body would react.
