Depends on which type of intercourse. Intercourse altogether is sex. Oral sex is mouth to penis/mouth to vagina, vaginal sex is of course penis to vagina, and anal sex is penis to anus.

People have sex for pleasure, reproduction (making babies,) and many other things. So there you have it, intercourse is sex.
