There is a girl who has been carrying a personal vendetta against a friend of mine for over a year now. She accuses him of stuff all the time, to the point that he has been to court over her allegations. Yesterday she accused him of giving her an illegal substance (Ecstasy) at their high school and he has been suspended from school for 10 days. The facts: he wasn't at school that day. In fact, he wasn't even in the city at the time. Yet the school doesn't seem to care. In fact, the school hasn't even bothered to get the police involved in this.

This is going on his school record and it's WRONG. What can he do? This is in Ontario, Canada, by the way.

That's bullying. The only way to repair that, is to frighten that girl with some unknown people, who would force her to go and apologize to the principal about all she did, and inform her that she would be beaten if she continues to do so.
Believe me if you don't threaten her, she would even complain about something like that, without you doing that. So, if she complains about things you can't proove it's faulse, it's better to frighten her.
The best would be for him to leave that school for another one.

Accusing someone of illegal activity is defamation. If your friend can prove the allegations were made and prove that they are false, he will have a claim against the girl. He should not count on getting much money (if any) out of her, but he can maybe get a court order to use against her if she starts up again. By the way, going this route will not be cheap.

The other solution is political -- figure out what is causing the behaviour and see what can be done to stop it. The Natives here in BC have taught me about talking circles. I suggest you think about having a talking circle with the two people involved, as well as others who may be able to contribute to a solution. Use a "talking stick" to keep people from interrupting and see what can be done. Concentrate on solving the problem rather than confrontation and a victory/defeat kind of result.

I'm assuming you are in High School (or whatever they call it in the Great White North). His parents should be meeting with the school administration. They typically have a procedure to resolve disputes that may ultimately end up in front of the Superintendent of the district (or whatever you Canucks have)

If he can prove that he was'nt at school or in that city that day, then I'd say get a attorney and if that school suspended him on the allogations you say and put this on his record. A attorney is what he needs to sue the school for false allogations, suspension and falsely putting this on his record.
