I didn't get my period until I was 15, and I was really happy. Having a period is a monthly annoyance. If you're cousin says, anything, tell her that you're the lucky one.

I was almost 16 years old when I started. Now I'm 30. ALL the other girls I knew had started long before me and it was a bit irritating so I can understand a bit what you're going through. It is worse when someone makes it an issue- like your cousin does and my best friend did. But try not to worry too much about it. What seems to be a big issue now at 13 will fade into memory soon. Remember as a little kid in Kindergarten or preschool how certain things would be upsetting? Now you look back and it is no big deal. It won't be long before you look back on this and think the same thing. Just enjoy being 13. It only happens once.

You know having your period isnt a contest. It seems like a lot of 11-13 yr olds are really anxious to start their periods. i know its something new and you are closer to becoming a woman but really, Sweetie, its not all that great. It's a pain...really. You get cramps, you eat like crazy (well I do), you have to worry about leaking through a pad or tampon, just all kinds of not so fun stuff. I am not trying to scare you or make it seem like its this big horrible thing once you start, I'm just trying to tell you the reality of it all. I didnt start until I was 15. Every person is different. It will come when its ready to. Once you have it youll be stuck with it for quite some time! Then youll be worrying about why you missed one or why its late and a bunch of other questions. Who cares if your cousin starts first! It doesnt mean she's better than you or anything else! It just means she'll have cramps first! :)

Sit back and relax, Sweetie. My younger daughter didn't start having periods until she was 16 (her older sister started when she was 13.). She's 27 now, married, and has a beautiful little girl. Look at your cousin like she's crazy and ask her why she is so excited about the bloating, cramps, inconvenience, mood swings, etc.; and if she does start before you, tell her she got what she asked for and you're not going to listen to any of her moaning and complaining.

I wouldn't be irritated...trust me when you get it, you'll wish ya didn't have it but it'll be with you for the next 30++ years.

Tell her you're glad not to have to deal with cramps and bloating and pads/tampons, "accidents", moodiness, and all the other things that come with PMS and menstruation for 3 - 7 days (or so) a month.

Some girls don't start until they are 14 or 15 or so, and others start around age 10. I started early and I wasn't keen on it at all!

No reason to get irritated. Once your period comes you will wish you never had it. Trust me. I got mine when I was nine and from that day on wished I never had it at all. Who cares if she gets hers first, it will not make her anymore special then you. I know you dont understand right now..but you will. Having your period is no big deal. At your age you wait for it to start, at my age you cant wait for it to end. Good Luck, until then be patient, it will happen.

Periods suck. You do not want it. I went through the same type of thing you are going through everyone got theirs when they were 11 and 12 and I got mine at 13. Do not worry you will get sick of it...fast. You get cramps and you are tired and you feel just gross. Anyway about your cousin dont worry about her she sounds immature.

Chances are, your cousin feels inferior to you, because you are older. She's jealous. And by putting you down and making you feel awful, she feels better. You're irritated because it bothers you and as much as you know you probably will get it before her, there's still a chance she's right. Don't let it bother you too much, time will solve your problems :).

She only does it because it irritates you. You're irritated because you are starting the hormonal changes that come with puberty. When she does this it's your chance to show that you are more grown up than her, just ignore her and change the subject.

Well I think that not getting your period now is better than getting it early. Because you won't have to worry about cancelling things because your stomach hurts!! And probably it is because of you getting stressed over this stuff!!!
