I was walking to the neighborhood next to mine today and i have to walk on the sidewalk next to the main road. It's only like 50 or so yards but two people honked at me. This happens a lot. Why do people do it? It gets really annoying!

If vehicles are coming near you from in the back of, you're strolling on the incorrect area. at the same time as there is not any sidewalk, pedestrians are meant to stroll on the left (in international places the position one drives on the right). that is so that you spot the vehicles coming near you.

Honestly, just for the reaction. I've done it, my husband does it...he's always temped if someone walks in front of our car, like across the crosswalk..it's mean. If they're kids, some times I'll honk if my kids are in the car & my kids will freak! MOM!!!!! it's funny. :)

They don't want to run you over. If they do, then the driver would be sued.
