Hi Folks.
Don't get me wrong - I love my Mum, but in her seventies appears to be always needing to be in the right.
If I disagree with some minor issue, I am always in the wrong !
Good greif, I am 51, and know what is what.
She is usually a mild mannered person, but I get the dirty end of the stick if something goes wrong.

Oh, I put it right, and all is well, but are most mothers like this. ?

Hey Ho,

Bob

Yes many mothers are like this, but they just love you, and wanna be there for you, its very typical, cuz my mom likes to jump the guns, and always assume right away shes right.
I might be off topic to your question but, me and my mom have talks with eachother all the time. If I have problems with my friends and tell her specifically whats going on, she'll understand my problems and knows how to give good advice. She keeps me prepared and aware for more upcoming things in life, and thats what I like about my mom. Only cuz I love her, and she's always there for me. And And parents aren't always right when they say something to you, cuz there not in your exact position that your in. But they been through experience . Well, good bye now, gotta leave, my mom is calling me to go eat!!! Have a nice week.:)

Yes, my mum is the same and I'm 54. I think as they get older they forget that their kids are getting older and wiser too. I tend to just always agree with her. I only see her every few weeks and talk to her on the phone every other day but I don't talk about things that I know she won't agree with. She still thinks she is right because she is the mother or parent figure and you are still the child even though you're 51! Is it worth upsetting her to voice your opinion? Easier to keep quiet I would think!! lol

My mum likes nothing better than sl@gg*ng me off in front of her friends or even strangers. But in times when she needs help she would always turn to me. I don't know why she does this but I still loves her because she's my mum and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her.

I'm not expecting an apology from her, when bad stuff happens I will just walk away and pretend I'm not hearing it.

It's good you have posted up this question and I have read the replies which are all very interesting. Thanks.

My mum is like this too. I am quite young at 22, so it has only been recently that I have escaped the spell she put on me where I believed she is always right.

My only advice is to avoid arguing with her. Just agree with her and don't lower yourself to her level. Its nasty that parents sometimes give 'the dirty end of the stick' to their own kids.

various the responses I easily have examine right here carry an lack of awareness which could in basic terms be from somebody who has in no way had to be in a combat. Violence is neither precise nor incorrect. this is in simple terms in simple terms one in all many hassle-free approaches to talk and administration. regrettably there are some people who in basic terms understand that form of communique. And gender or intercourse has no longer something to do with it. If all different varieties of communique, persuasion and administration have failed then a woman merits to be punched in the face in simple terms as much as a guy does. the version is in the aftermath. a guy will frequently be taken aback into listening to reason. a woman will cry foul and conceal in the back of her vagina.

There's a difference between "correct" and "right"..I think all mum's think they know best..Mine always did,or thought she did and sometimes i wish she were still here to tell me so..I'm 57,got 4 children and they all come to me for advice but i've learnt when to keep my mouth shut and let them sort it out, they know where i am if they need me..I think, maybe it's just a parent thing..When we're in our 70's we may be the same..Well,i'm practicing..I plan to be the most cantantankerous old bat on the street !!!

i have found this to be the case

my mother is only right sometimes - and wrong a lot of the time - or right for the wrong reasons - or ....

i am thinking tho that my sons mother is a very different story - correct ALL of the time and a super nice person too (well self flattery is a good place to start!!) lol

I can remember as a kid listening to my father telling my grandfather that 'children are supposed to do as their parents say,' and wondering why it was that he was not listening to HIS own father then, instead of arguing with him!

No, mothers and fathers are not always right ~ nor wrong. But then, sometimes some of them are never right either.

Sometimes, you just have to be the BIGGER person and let it go and let them have the last say on the subject.

Sometimes.

Best of luck.

Yes my mom is always right and annoying yep my mom is annoying and sometimes it pains me that they are always right. But here is a famous saying "Mother knows best" lol I hate that saying yes all mothers are like that well most. But hey at least you have someone who cares about you and who corrects you even if it's annoying. Lol Hang in there your mom sounds like an awesome person.
