Or do they say they do because they are compensating for something??

I hear they have over-the-counter medication for that now . . .

Obviously, they don't, but they are shrill in claiming that they do. Anyone who has strong views on how their country can best live up to its core ideals is a patriot, but that doesn't mean they cannot be critical of their contry's policies. As G.K. Chesterton said: "'My country, right or wrong' is a thing no patriot would ever think of saying except in a desperate case. It is like saying 'My mother, drunk or sober.'"

To claim that liberals are unpatriotic simply because they are liberals is a cynical attempt to close down conversation.

A true patriot would question the atrocities being committed
by this president. The image we are giving the rest the planet
is not a good one. Anyone with a brain can pick up on that
just by being on Answers, let alone the news.
They are little lost sheep, who need to follow, because if they
had a brain, courage & a conscience, they would know what
is really going on & the question the hell out of it.

Yes, Bushes use of bombs, big guns & torture does make
me think there's something he's trying to compensate for.

Conservative patriotism is nothing but.... Phony-Peer Pressured Patriotism. It means nothing to people who know better and can see conservatives for what they really are. Every time there is an republican in the white house it rears its ugly head...the last time it was Reagan... wanted people to believe that their was no greater American then him and people who thought like him... You see how crazy this thinking is... you see where it leads you... to starting wars for no reason, whatsoever.

Conservative philosopy summed up:

Hermann Goering, Hitler’s Propaganda Minister said; “Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger”.

They have the corner for claiming to be patriotic. That's about it. Liberals rise to the bait when they attempt to combat this fallacy.

It just makes me happy to love our country. I suppose you could love Nazi's like Herman Goerring but I don't really think he's worth quoting. Besides he was a socialist and I don't really believe in that ideology as I'm conservative.

Because we are! We support the troops with no addendums. We know what to do for the common good! We think for ourselves. And don't drink the kool-aid.
