There is a product called Bona. It is a Swedish Formula cleaning system. It is fast and can be used on finished or unfinished hardwood floors. My floors are not sealed and it works great. It comes with a micro fiber cloth with a long handle...kind of like a Swiffer so it is great for quick cleaning before guests show up. They also have in their brochure, products for refinishing your floors yourself so it can save you hundreds of $ off of hiring someone. I believe you can find it at Home Depot or Lowe's.

I am in the cleaning business and here is our secret!
We use the swiffer, but instead of using t hose expensive refills,
We buy this cleaning cloth off the internet. You have to buy in packages of 5 but they are only like $3 bucks a piece. I have ordered them and use them on everything, especially cleaning windows and clean mirrors. They are made out of tiny fibers. They are guaranteed not to scratch and all you do is rinse the cloth under water, wring it out and wipe ANY surface with no streaks or scratch. Use em over and over. I have not thrown one away yet!
I am sold on this ...I encourage you to try it out….hope this helps…Steve

Depends on how they are finished. If old fashioned varnish, mopping with a gentle solvant and then wax. For polyurethane, a similar mop procedure but use a product designed for polyurethane.
If you have oiled floors (now very rare), you have a fire hazard.

I agree with the answer above but if you are in a hurry with guests on the way, spray on a little pledge and scoot around with some rags around your feet. Great shine, cleans and leaves a repellent to dust.

I like Murphy's Oil Soap, but I don't think it will do any serious restoration-- mostly clean. You can find it in any grocery store, check cleaning supplies.
