Hard to say - but I felt really awful for the Mexican Nanny...
I think she is just a phenomenal actress.... I really hated border patrol after seeing that movie...
The Japanese girl was awesome as well - she made me think about how isolating it must be to be deaf in a society that is so focused on achievement (and an outdated idea of perfection)...
And about how sex is still so demonized and misunderstood in many cultures.
I have to say though - EVERY character in that movie brought something special to the table... the Japanese cop was really sweet - as was the Morrocan Bus Driver... and the little boy who turned himself in...
The one character that gave me the worst feeling though - was the random politician that you see soaking up the lime light during Cate Blanchet's crisis by promising to catch terrorists... what a jerk!!!
If you want to see the Nanny's brother in another REALLY good movie - rent "The King"... That one deals with broad social issues in America too.

Until the end, the Mexican Nanny. But I found the end of her story contrived, and the raw need of the Japanese Girl, and the fact that she got some, from the policeman and her father, with no great melodrama, to be touching.
I didn't like the movie all that much, but loved the acting of both of these characters.
