Obama has a chance. People that say he doesn't have a chance know little about him except for the intense media gaganess. Watch him debate, watch him speak, get to know him better and the idea of his being president wouldn't seem so odd. He's smart, he's a product of Chicago politics (which is no picnic), and he is inspiring.
Colin Powell lost a lot of credibility with his "slam dunk" comment. And Condoleeza Rice, while still popular amongst supporters of this administration, is as polarizing on the left as Hillary is on the right. No one that served in the Bush administration has a reasonable chance unless there are some drastic turnarounds in the very near future.
But if not Obama, yes, eventually. There aren't any other prominent African American politicians on the national level at the moment. First female president is in a similar situation. If Hillary can't win with her political machine, it will be a while before there is a viable female candidate again.

Know as we all US has been a melting pot of cultures for centuries and there has been a progressive culture blend infusing people in all walks of national mainstream. Politics being no exception, there is every possibility of having an Afro-Asian President. Not everybody, a non-entity may become the President for which a popular socially and politically acceptable figure is required and hence, the chances are positive. Asian community becoming prominent gradually affecting now the decision-making in the legislature of the country, the day will not be far, when there will be an Afro-Asian President in US.

I think American society in general is definately ready for a black president. Those members who are not should live under one for at least 4 years so maybe their eyes are opened to the fact that a black man (or woman!) can do a good job as president. I think Obama stands a good chance of becoming the democratic candidate, but he still has to prove himself to be a good candidate, the color of his skin is irrelevant.

not at all! yet there'll be yet another President who takes position to be African American. there's a distinction. i am going to oppose the first one as a lot as i'd oppose a white President, a lady President, a Christian President, etc. the different i am going to help the acceptable qualified even if or not they ensue to be a lady, male, white, black, Asian, Hispanic, etc. study the adaptation, individuals. One is racist. the different is Democratic.

I doubt it, the powers that be will not let it happen. For a while I thought Condoleeza Rice would run and I thought she had a chance of winning. We will see Hilary in office before we see a black person. We all better start praying if that nut gets in.

Anything is Possible this Time
Because Americans are finally sooo tired of the "business as usual" politics and how big a failure almost all of there "big ideas" are. This time the people want someone to "rock the boat" sort of speaking, more in line with the "will of the people"
Here, Here!!!!
