I want to auto-sync my ipod nano but my computer doesn't detect it.

Mine did that once too. Get on a friend's computer and plug it in (they will need to have iTunes). Do not let your iPod sync with the other person's library! Click the Restore button when the iPod appears. Wait for it to finish (your iPod screen has a progress bar) and you're done! You can now go back to your own computer ;)

P.S. This was one of Apple's 5 iPod "R" fixes. Always look at the five R's before complaining. You can find them at http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/.

Just ran into this with my niece's nano... if you are on a Mac, you need at least OS 10.3.9 and the newest version of iTunes - 7.0.2, I think. Once your computer is updated, your iPod should show up, then you can set it to sync everything automatically.

Do you have iTunes installed? If not, go to www.apple.com and Install it.
