I had some really bad and ridiculous rumors started about me by very jealous girls in high school...I honestly just ignored the rumors and lived my life how I wanted to. When people would ask me about or bring up the rumors to me, I THEN made it a point to tell them it wasn't true and that it was started by jealous people. Those who knew me or liked me believed me...those who believed the rumors weren't people I wanted in my life anyway since they were obviously ignorant followers.

I mean really, what else CAN you do? Short of stooping to their level or doing something immature like gathering a crowd for a protest or posting notes everywhere...there's really not much else you can do.

I'm sorry you've had the misfortune of being the subject of a rumor started by jealous people. =/

Just laugh at the rumour and go about your business pretending it doesn't bother you. It makes others think you can take a good joke. Any other behaviour will show it bothers you and there's some sick S, O, B doing this to get their kicks. Besides, your real friends know you and know your not capable of said gossip.

well i had this "friend" or so i thought, and after my ex and i split up she started rumours in my little community that i live in. (she lives about 20 miles away) so anyway i started hearing all these little things she was saying, so i gave her a call. she was soooo nice to me (as the knife got deeper in my back) so i started talking to her about people i had talked to that she had been talking to. so anyway, i really let her know that i knew what she was up to. i then told her how people who have drama in their lives(which she does) shouldnt start more. anyway, to make a long story short, i did the killing her with kindness thing. she now knows that i know what she said about me. and the people she yapped to want NOTHING to do with her, including my ex, that she took under her wing after i left him. sorry to go on and on but this has been bothering me for a long time. im not really a person who cares what people think about me but she stepped over the line, and i stopped it. i feel much better for it now... if you dont take up for yourself in this world, nobody else is gonna do it for you...

If ignoring it is not an option, confront the person who started the rumor.

OK recently this person started bad mouthing me, I happened to bump into her did she mention what she was accusing me of eh NO not to my face, we did have words well to be honest I let her rant on made such a fool of herself..........

Then when I got home I phoned her house, and had this long conversation with her daughter, they where clutching at straws, saying I was doing this and that, I said Oh my see the things I do that I dont know about it never ceases to amaze me, thier ammo was someone she knew told her, I said well who are they, (her) Its aneed to know basis and you dont need to know, (me) well can this person prove this... ( her) well how can they.....

This being where she hung herself, if I was making accusations about someone I would want to be able to back them up, so bring this person over to my house and we will sort this out, if they know so much about my personal life I must know them very well, her response I have to go..... Yeh bet you do biatch, so just approach them to their face about it bet it will be a different story........

Just to make sure she said no more I told a member of her family to tell her wanna go for it name your time and place, I will be there, did she No sorted......

good luck just call their bluff, challenge them about it.......

Never trust second hand news... The best way is for them to go to the source... And if they don't you still have nothing to wory about because you know the facts... Also... What goes around, comes arond and they will have their turn...

There is not much you can do about it. It will go away when the next one arrives. Just try to stick it out. Whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

If it's a case of you being bullied though seek help from a teacher of guidance councillor.

I would say "I am not going to respond to such a ridiculous rumor, I will stand on my reputation as being who I am" enough said.
