Blood is lost during critical operations and occasionally needs to be replaced, blood can be lost during a tragic accident and need to be replaced so that these people can survive. Mothers can lose blood during childbirth if they begin to hemmorhage. Occasionally blood banks supplies run low on specific types of blood and if you have that type of blood, it will be incredibly great to donate so that they don't have to transport blood from far away and waste precious time. Also, people with O - have the purest blood that can be given to anybody. O means there are no antigens in the blood (A & B are antigens) and - means there is no rheumatoid factor in the blood. Hope this helps!

because if you have the right blood type you can save a life. People need that blood, if they don't get it they will die. Imagine that you needed blood really badly , and there just wasn't any blood you could use, you would think: "why don't people donate? it is such an easy process it can save not only my life but other lives too. so why not?" And that is your answer.

You can give it to yourself in advance of an operation. You can give it to a loved one that is ill. You can do it just because it saves lives even if you don't know the person. Robert Heinlein was very big on getting people to donate blood.

Someone else may give blood and save your life in the future, that is the reason to give blood, it can mean the difference between life and death.
