I don't think so. Their lifestyles are not healthy or good examples for children. Parents, Siblings, and certain relatives are the best "role models" for children.

It really depends on which pro athlete. Some are bad role-models, but some are good as well. Either way, they can give a kid motivation to become the best. Hopefully if a kid chooses a pro athlete as a role-model, they pick an honest athlete.

I think that they could be very positive role models, but unfortunately most are not. They are always going on strike for a raise on their already multi-million dollar salary and they take performance enhancing drugs and many of them get into trouble with the law. I would say it's ok to aspire to be a professional athlete, but if your child is idolizing a sports player, learn a little about that player yourself to make sure they're not actually a bad influence.

It really depends on who you are looking at. If you are looking at Michael Jordan then he probably isn't the best role model ever because he is very unsportsmanlike.
GOOD LUCK!

Many are involved in their communities, donate to charitable organizations, show sportmanship while playing, and leaders on and off the field. Of course many are "role-models".
