Ohhhh I love neuroscience-that's why I'm getting a PhD in it. You will learn about:
-Neuroanatomy
-Neuro systems (you know how you studied different body systems in human biology or anatomy and physiology, well in here you learn how the brain controls pretty much all of these systems)
-Neuro signaling...action potentials....neurotransmitters and their release/regulation
-If it's a psych AND neuro class...you will learn alot about the mood parts of the brain (amygdala, etc) and the neurotransmitters responsible for mood...dopamine, serotonin, etc.
-Why is it important? Because the brain controls everything in one way or another.
-It'll be really interesting, I promise! It's not your run of the mill science course. It'll be challenging, but worth it.

Oh..and what you can apply this knowledge to: well, understanding neurological and psychological disorders...and possible discussing drug treatments for these. Many other things...if I knew your major or career goals, I could probably help more than that!

Enjoy!
