Why do people call themselves Social Workers if they do not have a BSW or an MSW?

I don't know what kind of social workers you know,but the ones i know went to university for 3yrs full time and 5yrs part-time,anything less i would call a care worker.

Who would brag about being a Social Worker? I think the fact that someone would get a MSW in Social Work negates the degree.

Because basically anyone can hang out a shingle and because social work courses are a dime a dozen these days.
