There are numerous options. You need to best figure out what you want to convey. As a side note, you make the sentence more INTELLIGIBLE.

Make it smart by using a little vocab:
In my opinion, he is an extremely funny person.
or go crazy:
In my humble opinion, the man is a very mirthful individual.
You can leave out the "humble"... but if you're saying it with a british accent, doesn't it just make it roll of the thounge? Or instead of very you could use eminently or profoundly:
In my opinion, the man is an eminently mirthful individual.
lol, yes i just typed it out a bunch of times without reason, but thats ok. I'm feeling excessive.

I find him to be very witty.
I think he is quite clever.
Personally, he seems like a very droll person to me.
Try moving the order of the words around the word funny, then finding a different word for funny (use thesaurus).

I would suggest: "He is a very funny."
It is understood that this is your own opinion. In is also understood that he is a person. Writing in a terse (direct and short) manner is an intelligent way of communicating.
