either both headlights are burned out on low beam, the dimmer switch is bad, the headlight switch is bad, or a burned fuse. check the fuse first. if it's ok, replace one headlight bulb. if it now works, bad bulbs. if it doesn't, time to check the switches. some cars had a bad problem with headlight switches overheating and burning out. that would be my next stop.

depends on the year of the car some have fuses or relays for high and low beam. Check you owners manual under fuses it should show a picture of your fuse box along with a diagram of what each one controls, see if they show headlights listed. If not get a 12 volt test light and unhook one of your low beam headlights you turn lights on low beam and check for power, if both high and low beam light are in the same bulb you can switch from high to low beam and should have power on 2 separate wire if you do then its a bad bulb if not its probably a bad dimmer switch.

The low beam bulbs are probably burned out. You want to replace them in pairs.

If both headlights only function on highbeam and are off with lowbeam, then your dimmer switch is bad. If only one headlight is effected, then the headlight is bad.
