The Barbie is Famous , it has been around since 1959, that was when the first was produced .

I work in the toy business and Barbie and Bratz both sell very well. The Bratz however seem to be a little more "risque" shall we say in the way they are dressed sometimes. I have heard parents say they would never buy them (Bratz) for their children but others aren't bothered by the clothes as long as its what the kids ask for. But Barbie is not "out of style" if you were concerned about that.

Barbie is an international icon and is far more widespread than Bratz. It goes beyond the doll, she has a lot of history and there are mad keen collectors and enthusiasts that live for Barbie. Bratz haven't been around very long, although they have a lot more merchandise and spin offs like the tv series so you might see collectors in the future but they may die out. Barbie already has a firm place in history.

I'd have to say Barbie. Barbie's been around longer than the Bratz, has more movies, more rare dolls, and collector edition's. She's over 40, but looks great!!

Barbie is through the years, but sadly the little kids seem to like Bratz and it is hurting sales for Barbie. I honestly hate them, they are so ugly with their big heads, no nose, and gigantic lips. If you are buying one for your daughter or another child, I'd definately get a My Scene Barbie or another Barbie, but stay away from Bratz.
