My Mother in law has rental properties that I clean for her when someone moves out and I have seen some pretty nasty showers, and the best thing I have found is "The Works". You can get it at the $ store and it takes off all the black crud that has been on the shower stalls for years.

even if it really is porcelin, commence with a tricky grit scotch-brite pad and purifier to remove cleansing soap and scum residue. Then use muratic acid, heavily, (emphasis on "heavily") make sure that the room is ventalated, pour the acid down the perimeters of the tub, set the bottle down and depart the room, all the at the same time as conserving your breath. Muratic acid isn't so undesirable, yet at the same time as it reacts with minerals, jointly with rust and lime, the fumes are noxiuos. end result? The porcelin appears like new. If it really is a fiberglass bathtub, sparkling as acceptable you could as said above and then use a really superb grit, moist sand paper and take a inspect to rub out the stains. Dont use the acid on fiberglass or %, (plastic) tubs.

For the bottom of the tub (what you stand on), I just use a regular cleanser and a big scrub brush, and scrub away. For the tile walls, I use this Mold and Mildew spray, Wal-Mart brand, and I love it...you just spray it and leave it alone. It does the job itself and does a good job too.

Cleanser (Ajax, Comet, etc) and lots of elbow grease. For severe hard water stains, a product with oxalic acid is recommended. Bleach is good only for dealing with germs and mildew/mold.

you MUST get this stuff called Shower Power... it's the best stuff i have ever used to clean bathrooms and chrome. BUT.. never let the stuff sit for too long. it can and will damage the chrome.
WOW, they only sell it online... that stinks.
