In The Departed, how does Mark Wahlberg know Matt Damon is a rat?

b/c hes the only one it could be i guess, and he pretty much got marks character fired so maybe he was watching him.

It could be that Leo send him a copy of the cd with Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson's converstion;
It could be that letter that Leo gave to the shrink;
It could be that Mark figured it himself by putting bits and pieces together - he is technically a detective;
It could also be that he did not know Matt was the rat, he just killed him because he hates him
or, I also heard this theory, that Mark could be a rat too, and he killed Matt so he wouldnt be found out...?
This movie is so open to interpretation. It could be a lot of things.

I guess we are to assume that the Psychiatrist went to the police and told them everything...
Then it is just this idea that maybe Wahlberg was acting "outside the law" when he showed up to murder Damon's character...
(Because the police will supposedly take matters into their own hands to do justice to a "cop killer"....)

Yeah i assumed that became fantastically reliable having the rat scurry in the course of the balcony after he ( Mark Wahlberg ) killed the biggest rat ( Matt Damon ) who idea he had gotten away scott loose. Mark Wahlberg became in simple terms pushing aside the garbage,no longer a rat. Scorsese receives the job performed it really is a fine looking movie.

Don't you remember when Leo held matt on the roof, captive? He kept telling him that Wahlburg was supposted to be there,too, so obviously he already knew or Leo called him
