I don't understand these people who rush their babies out so early - exposing them to germs when their immune systems are not fully developed and and well as numerous other dangers. I agree with the person who said 5 weeks minimum, unless it's urgent. My doctor had told me to wait and mentioned how traumatic it is for a newborn to get sick.
Also, I have been there with a C-Section - it is a long recovery and very difficult to do everyday tasks - not a good situation to put you or your baby in. Why risk it???

I was out shopping when my daughter was 2 days old, the day I got out of hospital. With my second I waited about a week, but that was only because I was looking after a newborn and a toddler and just wanted a little rest.
Babies are fine to take out as soon as you are ready, there is no set amount of time to wait. Although in some cultures they dont leave the house for 3 months or have visitors in that time either.
As long as baby is dressed appropriately and you have a diaper bag, with nappies, wipes, changing mat, blankets, spare clothes and bottles if needed. You will be fine.

I have an 11 day old baby and we went shopping yesterday - my hubby came too but he needed feeding and changing whilst we were (the baby that is not the hubby...lol) out which was nerve wrecking but i am glad we did it. I wanted to test out where i would take him to change etc. I had a natural delivery so have been up and about walking with him and visiting etc
No time like the present for you to go out although if you had a c section you will probably need to take someone with you to do the heavy lifting. I didnt want to be housebound so i am trying to venture somewhere new each day before hubby goes back to work.

Well, I had a c-section and the day I got out of the hospital I went to wal-mart with my little girl. I had to have baby formula and had no choice so you should be fine taking your 2 week old out!

As soon as you two were let out of the hospital it has been ok. Just dress the baby appropriately according to the weather and have enough diapers, wipies, etc.

my baby wasn't in public until around 5 weeks. We still rarely go into the public. I already had one RSV baby I don't want another.

Take her out when you're ready, but keep her in an extra layer of clothing and don't let anyone touch her! Don't even let them breathe on her. People are dirty and nasty - remember that
