denny I like your answer, but imagine it is your unconscious mind which determines all, than not eveything would be perfect (is there no place for war inside of you?)

You cannot and that is beautiful. If anything was sure in this world there would be no questions, no researches, no beliefs, everything would be dull.

This could be asked by anyone. So how do you know you aren't a figment of THEIR imaginations - or mine?

However, I would bet you are younger than I am and I was here (and thinking) before you came along. How could I exist (only) in your imagination, BEFORE you existed? The answer: I couldn't. Therefore, I must exist separate from, and independent of, your imagination.

I call this the train analogy. You get on a train you've never been on before, claiming that the train did not exist before you got on it. But when you get on, other riders are already on the train. If you ask, they can tell you where the train came from and where it will go next. If the train is only in your (inexperienced) mind, how can these figments of your imagination know something you don't know yourself?

Other people can also predict things about topics you are not familiar with. So, why don't you know everything that the people, which you imagine, happen to know?

This question is irrelevent to everything and this is why.

You have the sensation of emotion and reality; whether or not it is real doesn't change the fact that you feel them.

With that in mind; in this context the worlds real and imaginary have no meaning. If a man from the 'real world' says he can kill you and not be morally at fault because you don't exist does that make sense? He can tell you would be suffering, you would feel like you were suffering and the only thing that justifies is would on a scientific level be that you are made of light particales in a hologram and he is mad of atoms. That is like saying that skin pigment matters.

denny, credit your last sentence to the movie THE MATRIX. thats obviously where you got it from.

you pinch yourself to know that the world is not a figment of your imagination.

jk.

i think that if something really upsets you (like alot), then you are definatley not imagining. bc if you were imagining you wouldnt be upset by something alot. you would just go "that sucks." for example, a person might hate oppression of women or racism and be TRULY upset by it because they realize it is the reality. but if some1 is just not empathising with something then its kinda like they are just imagining it but not truly acknowledging.

Remy, you can never really be sure, But here is my explanation. If everything was just in my imagination, I think thare would not be any Wars, everyone would get along, many not perfectly but would get along. The Government would not be getting as big of a chunk of my pay check as it does and there would be no telemarketer......So think about yourself. In your world is this one just what you would have dreamed up, or is this just part of a giant computer and we are all just chips in it's daily operations. That might explaine way so many differant foods teast like chicken...........................

Well...actually we can't really be sure. Once I cease to exist so does everything else (for me). Philosophically, does the moon exist because I see it? Boggles the mind!

are you aware of your sanity? is that what you are questioning? maybe you can't. how does a mentally disabled person know they are mentally disabled? if I am not aware of my sanity than how do i know what reality is. how do i know that i am not responding to your question in my own reality? but by joining in on your reality I would say that it is not a figment of your imagination. my being coexists with yours. i might not make sense but who cares!
