I have a co-worker that put me in a very unethical and unprofessional position today. She is not only my co-worker, but also a friend outside of work. The situation that she put me in could have gotten me fired and after a long, & sad day, I decided that I needed to inform my manager. I guess my question is, what would you have done? Again, the situation goes against a contract that she signed as well as my companies code of ethics. I feel terrible because she is my friend, but also feel like I had to cover my ***....

I think you did the right thing. You are standing up for what is right. You should not lose your job because she made a bad decision. If she is going to blame it on you then she was not a very good friend to begin with.
