Well there are many different sizes and type. The size all depends on what you will be storing on it. Music, Movies, games, even pictures? or just normal things like word documents. I would say a safe betr would be around 80-100 gigs for most everything. Next you need to check your motherboard for the type. You can also download a free program off the web called Everest. Just yahoo search it. It will tell you everything and more that you possibly need to know for your computer. Find your current hard drive write down all the info about it and go to your local computer store, they should be able to get you one similar to it.

check your owners manual...either eide or sata connections...then depending on your operating system you can choose the size you want or whatever you can afford. Some of the older operating systems can't (won't) recognize supersized harddrives. but if your computer is a fairly new one then you just need to know IDE or SATA. Also keep in mind that faster is better...7200 is better than 5400.
